Oxer Wines is the project of Oxer Bastegieta, a winemaker originally from Biscay who began producing wine at his family's winery in Kortezubi. After moving to Rioja for his viticulture and oenology studies, Oxer decided to settle in Laguardia to start his own company. The wine is a blend of Viura, Calagrano, and Malvasia Riojana grapes sourced from a single vineyard located on the Artillero estate in the municipality of Elvillar y Laguardia. Here, the vines, organically farmed and with low yields, are planted in clay-limestone soil, which ensures the full expression of the varietal's aromatic power. After early harvesting (to maintain freshness and limit alcohol content) and fermenting in new French oak barrels, the wine rests for approximately 12 months before bottling and release. In the glass, the wine reveals a pale straw color and an intense and elegant aromatic profile with milky notes and smoky and spicy hints. On the palate, it is fresh and crisp, harmonious and refined with a lively acidity and a creamy texture. The finish is medium-long with mineral notes. It is excellent as an aperitif and pairs well with seafood and white fish.
