Located in the Traisental valley, Lower Austria, Weingut Markus Huber was founded by Markus in 2000, taking over his parents' 4-hectare vineyard. Since then, Markus has modernized the winery and brought it to prominence through meticulous and precise work, which emphasizes the area's unique terroir. The Riesling grapes are selected from the Rothenbart terraced vineyard, one of the highest in the valley, located at almost 380 meters above sea level. Here, the organically grown vines are planted in sandy and stony soils, on a substrate of dolomitic limestone with a high iron content, which gives them a reddish color. After harvesting and fermenting in stainless steel, the wine remains on the lees for eight months before bottling. The result is a characterful wine of exquisite quality and excellent aging potential. On the nose, Ried Rothenbart Erste Lage Riesling reveals a fresh and vibrant aromatic profile with notes of green apple, lime zest, and grapefruit, followed by mineral notes. On the palate, it is light and delicate, taut and concentrated, with a lean character and lively acidity. It has a medium body and vibrant freshness. It is fruity with a long, mineral finish. It is the ideal wine for asparagus dishes, vegetarian recipes, and fish.
