The estate was founded by Lucien in 1950, combining the vineyards of his two grandfathers, André Crochet and Lucien Picard, who were also winemakers. The estate has expanded over the years and today covers over 35 hectares. Sauvignon Blanc is the main grape variety, but the company also grows Pinot Noir. Lucien Crochet Sancerre is produced with Sauvignon Blanc grapes sourced from hillside vineyards with excellent exposure, where the vines are rooted in Kimmerid soils, rich in limestone and clay. After careful selection in the vineyard and manual harvesting, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature to preserve the wine's aromatic purity and freshness. The result is an elegant, fresh, and complex white wine that reveals a bright, pale straw-yellow color in the glass. Its aromatic profile is fragrant and intense, with fruity notes of apricot, melon, and citrus, followed by hints of wildflowers, aromatic herbs, and flint. On the palate, it has good structure and a distinctive mineral character. It is lively, crisp, and linear. It has a pronounced acidity and a long, chalky finish. It is the ideal wine to pair with all goat cheese-based recipes. It also works well with white fish, seafood, and, of course, sushi.
