Founded in 2012, Bodegas Frontonio is a Spanish winery located in the Aragon region that produces artisanal wines in limited quantities. The winery pursues a philosophy aimed at reclaiming a highly suitable wine district, yet one that has been abandoned for too long. The estate's most prestigious vineyard is El Jardín de las Iguales, a terraced plot planted between 1898 and 1908 in the Sierra de Algairén. The wine is a blend of organically grown Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo grapes from over fifty-year-old bush-trained vines planted on clay-limestone and slate soils in the La Loma and Los Santos vineyards, at approximately 480–610 meters above sea level. After manual harvesting, fermentation occurs spontaneously in concrete vats, and the finished wine ages in large barrels for a year. Production is limited to just over 4,200 bottles. In the glass, the wine reveals a brilliant golden yellow color. Its aromatic profile is broad and intense, with notes of medlar, quince, and citrus, followed by floral and aniseed aromas, interspersed with mineral and saline notes. On the palate, it is concentrated and powerful, vibrant and clean. It has a sharp minerality and a creamy texture. The finish is long and complex, with flavors of lemon curd mingling with hints of ginger. Try it with sushi, white fish, and shellfish.
